Rafael Nadal, a superb clay court player has just secured a hat-trick of 12th consecutive clay court title, in Open Seat 2007. This win extends his record of clay court wins to 72 matches. Nadal defeated Guillermo Canas 6-3, 6-4 in the final of the Open Seat 2007 Sunday in his home city of Barcelona, to claim a hat-trick, and his 20th ATP title.

“To win another final, in Barcelona, at my home club, it’s a great feeling. The first time I won it was like a dream, so what can I say, to win it for a third time, to win my 20th title here, it is an amazing feeling.”

The clay court season has opened up with the classic Federer Nadal match-up, already we have seen one final where the pari have battled it out, and once again Nadal seems to be prevailing winner on clay still. It will be interesting to see how this clay court season shapes up as we reach the French open, and then make the transition on grass in preparation for Wimbledon.
