Anderson University took home the its second big piece of hardware this year when the CVAC announced that Anderson had won the Hawn Cup! Anderson is the first South Carolina school to win the Hawn Cup–thanks Peeler.
The CVAC website wrote a great article on this so just follow the link and enjoy the article.
The good news is the Beville Cup will have some company this year in the Abney Athletic Center.

Mark Peeler–Erskine’s AD– your welcome for the notes on the Beville Cup. I noticed some similarities in what you said last night–as you presented to the Cup to Anderson–in what I wrote Feb. 25 about the cup being re-named. My thoughts were confirmed by Coach Beville when he said you stumble across this blog on a Google search–which I am excited about you can Google and find me. Peeler I am here anytime you need a good story. One more, thing thanks for taking care of the Beville Cup the past two years and returning it back safely home. You can come by and visit over the next couple of years.
I would like to apologize for the lack of blogs this past week, but I have been so bogged down with exams and final projects. I will catch up on the All-Conference teams, the Hawn Cup–Anderson won!– and the All-Time CVAC teams as soon as I get some free time.
Yes, this blog was started for a class grade, but since I have enjoyed this and I have one more year left at Anderson–not as an athlete anymore because of my shoulder–I will continue the blog.

Breaking News: Anderson University Athletic Director Bobby Beville resigned around three weeks ago and will have the herald Anderson-Erskine Cup sponsored by Aramark named after him and his late wife Susie. The announcement came from Anderson University Interim Athletic Director Cobb Oxford during Coach Beville’s farewell recognition presentation Thursday, February 22 around 7:30 p.m. The Anderson-Erskine Cup is presented to the winning athletic department of the two schools at the beginning of each school year. The Cup has been at Erskine for the past two years, and as of right now, Anderson has the lead baseball, softball and academic points to determine the winner. Both universities and Aramark agreed on the change of the cup name. I expect the cup the be referred to as the Beville Cup for short.
I have worked with Coach Beville for the past couple of months and I would like to say that he has deserved this honor. He helped take Anderson University and the CVAC into the NCAA Division II from the NAIA. He won a national championship in baseball in 1994 and was named coach of the year in that year. He is a very respected man around the college and the city. He will be working for the City of Anderson’s Parks and Recreation Department. Coach Beville attended Anderson University, Anderson College at the time, when it was a two year school and lived in the dorms as a Residence Hall Coordinator while he attend Erskine College in Due West for his final two years of college. He took the head baseball coaching position at Anderson in 1984. He stepped away from the program in 1994 when he took the Athletic Director position, where he has been until his resignation. Coach Beville you will be missed. Your guidance over the past couple of months has been a blessing, thank you and I wish you the best.
