United Airlines signs Coke

United Airlines, the number 2 US airline, signed a 5 year contract with Coke. This means they will primarily serve coke products on their flights as well as well as  in  their lounges in airports. Guess I know which airline I want to fly with next time. :) Check out the article.

Props to Pepsi

I know, I know, I know :( I thought I would never say those words. I’m sure you are all very dissapointed but I feel that pepsi actually did something right and I feel they deserve some credit for it. You may have read about the fact that some stupid coke employees tried to get away with stealing coke’s trade secrets and selling them to pepsi. Well when they sent an e-mail to pepsi, pepsi let coca-cola company officials know that they had received the suspicious e-mail and said “Competition can be fierce, but it must also be fair and legal.” I thought this was a very mature and responsible thing for pepsi to do. So, props to pepsi.

Jesus and Coke ?

In recent news, you may have heard about the Italian film 7 Km da Gerusalemme ( 7 Kilometers from Jerusalem). There is a scene in the movie, which is about a man going through a mid-life crisis, where a man in a jeep see’s a man that looks like Jesus in the desert. He stops to offer Jesus a ride and offers him a cold can of coke. As Jesus is drinking the coke, the man says “My God, What a Testimony!” This article has been reported on several news stations lately including NPR and MSNBC because Coke has been saying that they do not wish to have product placement in a movie of this type. I can see that there might be some later implications, however, it was not coke’s wish to have it there in the first place so I don’t see why it would coke back negatively on coke. Personally, I think the whole thing is a little rediculous. If you have ever met me or read any of my blogs, you know how much i love coke and how much i hate pepsi. I don’t really know why i have such an aversion to pepsi but its just the way I was made. I have always preferred coke. I don’t know if I have tastebuds that are different from other people or what, but I just love coke. Coke is far superior to pepsi. :) I do not think, however, that Jesus would necessarily have a preference to one or the other. As much as I would like to say that Jesus drinks coke, It’s not something that I can honestly say because I do not know. I think that it would be AWESOME to have coke in heaven one day, but I am also confident that whatever is waiting in heaven for us will be better than anything we have ever heard, or seen, or even imagined. I don’t think I will be dissapointed to find that coke is in short supply, because I know that other things will be so much better that I won’t even think of drinking coke again.

Britney Spears and Coke

Well I never thought that I would write a blog about britney spears. But this is pretty relevant to coke, which i have been blogging about. Apparently Britney is addicted to Coca-Cola and usually drinks up to a case a day- thats 24 cans! I’m sure that can’t be too good for her figure. Her physical appearance hasn’t seemed to matter to her very much lately. I understand that coke is ‘The Real Thing’ and everything and trust me, I love coke, but I think that this might be a little excessive. I think that coke is ok in moderation of 7 to 8 cans a day. :) Maybe 10 on the weekends.

Coke it is.

Diversity ? Who needs diversity ? As illustrated in this article from the Chicago Tribune, people are used to getting what they want. It is no longer acceptable to have only a few mainstream choices. Contracts with only one company is something that is quickly becoming outdated. More and more restaurants are offering coke as well as pepsi and often many other options as well. This article I found in the Chicago Tribune reveals that McDonalds is starting to offer some non-carbonated Pepsi products such as gatorade. Many investors this that this is a wise plan because if you don’t give people what they want then they will just get it somewhere else. I think that this has alot to do with the internet. The internet is very diverse and you have access to anything you want from anywhere in the world. People are used to having whatever they want wherever they go. Therefore, businesses have to have a wide selection if they want to keep people happy. Again, the link to the coke article is here. Well I guess by now most of you know my feelings on the subject. Coke it is!

Don’t rip off my coke!

This is an article I found about a law suit that the Coca-Cola company won concerned “My Cola” in Sri Lanka which was violating the Coke trademark. http://www.dailynews.lk/2004/05/11/new24.html

I love Coke.

The Best Coke

Ok, here’s the deal. If you’re drinking coke from a can or bottle then there is a hierarchy. Classic glass bottles, when they are really cold are hands down the best. Then you move on from there to the 12 oz. can. After the can, you go on to the plastic bottle, the small bottles being the best and going down slightly with an increase in size. However, fountain coke can beat even the glass bottle coke with the right syrup to carbonation ratio. It depends on the location. McDonalds sometimes has good coke. However, the one nearest me doesn’t have this scientific ratio down. There coke is not half as good as other places you can get it. Now, as for the serving temperature, About 33 degrees is the best possible drinking point for coke to be. If you put it in the freezer until it has tiny crystals of ice in it, but it is not frozen, then you’re in heaven. Drinking Coke out of a glass rather than a plastic cup is always better as well. I’m not sure why this is but I think for some reason the glass keeps the coke colder and does not have any plastic taste to it. Finally, I don’t put ice in my coke, because it comes out of the fountain at about 50 degrees. This is decently cold for coke, and it is already nice and refreshing. However, if you put ice in coke, it will just melt and add water to your coke, this is bad. I think that using ice balls or something of that nature would keep this from happening, but as a general rule, I never drink coke with ice in it unless the coke is hot. This also brings about the debate of coke displacement. If you have a glass full of ice, there is less room for your coke and you or your waiter have to fill the glass up much more often. Now, if you’re wondering what my favorite place to get coke is, It’s Wild Wings. They have large, hard platic cups, a great! carbonation to syrup mixture, and you won’t see the bottom of your glass the entire night. They know me by name when I walk in the door and a glass of deliciously refreshing cokelicious coke will be sitting on the table seconds after I walk in the door. Its a beautiful thing.
